Event Details

Join us for the opening reception of our new exhibit, Huntington in Bloom! Light refreshments will be served.

People have been decorating themselves and their homes with flowers for centuries, and Huntingtonians are no exception. This exhibit explores the widespread decorative appeal of flowers, as well as the longtime practical skill and hobby of gardening and caring for houseplants. On display here, you will see an assortment of objects, all decorated with floral motifs that were used and worn by the people of Huntington.

Admission to the museum is free; donations are greatly appreciated.

The Huntington Historical Society’s collection contains a veritable garden of flowers and plants, with representations of roses, daisies, ivy, oak leaves, carnations, tulips, and more.

This exhibit is arranged thematically in different sections, including “From Head to Toe: Fashionable Floral Accessories,” “Around the House: Flowers on Everyday Objects,” “Floral Fashions: Clothing Adorned with Flowers,” “Crafted Flowers: Flowers in Needlework and Other Mediums,” and “Grow Your Own: Interest in Gardening and Houseplants.”

From abstract to realistic, three-dimensional to embroidered, real to fake, Huntington is in bloom!
