Roman-style pizzeria with locations in Mineola and Massapequa earns national acclaim for the second year in a row
Taglio Pizza, with locations in Mineola and Massapequa Park, has officially secured its spot as one of the best pizza destinations in America. For the second consecutive year, the Roman-style pizzeria has been ranked No. 3 best slice shop in the U.S. by 50 Top Pizza, the prestigious Italy-based guide that celebrates the best pies around the globe.
This major recognition not only places Taglio among the elite in the country but also crowns it the top-ranked slice shop on Long Island—a title well-deserved and hard-earned.
A Roman-Style Revolution on Long Island
Founded in 2018, Taglio introduced Long Island to a pizza style few had experienced before: “pizza al taglio,” or “pizza by the cut.” Inspired by his time in the Lazio region of Italy, owner Rob Cervoni brought back the pan-cooked, crispy-yet-airy square slices that define Roman-style pizza and made it his mission to offer something totally unique to local pizza lovers.
While New York is known for its classic thin slices, Taglio boldly broke the mold. Cervoni trained under Roman pizza master Massimiliano Saieva before opening the Mineola location—an under-the-radar spot tucked beneath a bridge that quickly turned into a destination for pizza connoisseurs.

National Spotlight and Long Lines
The turning point came when 50 Top Pizza named Taglio the No. 3 slice shop in the U.S. in 2024, igniting a frenzy of media buzz, long lines, and daily dough sellouts. The excitement hasn’t faded—Taglio has retained the No. 3 position in 2025, once again standing shoulder-to-shoulder with pizza heavyweights like NYC’s L’industrie Pizzeria (No. 1) and Washington D.C.’s Slice & Pie (No. 2).
This recognition helped fuel the launch of Taglio’s second location at 113 Front Street in Massapequa Park, expanding access to its acclaimed slices while keeping quality and creativity front and center.
More Than Just Pizza—It’s a Vibe
Part of Taglio’s meteoric rise can also be credited to its strong digital presence. With Cervoni at the helm, Taglio’s social media showcases both mouthwatering pizza and hilarious street interviews—often conducted with his signature “spatula mic.” His lighthearted personality, mixed with serious pizza talent, has earned the brand a loyal and growing following.
What started as a passion project has evolved into a culinary movement—and Taglio shows no signs of slowing down. With two bustling locations and plans to expand even further, it’s clear that this Roman-style slice shop has tapped into something truly special.
