Community Favorite Greek & Italian Spot to Serve Final Meals on April 25

Zaro’s Cafe, a longtime cornerstone of the Huntington Station dining scene, has announced it will be closing its doors after more than three decades in business. Since opening in 1993, the family-owned restaurant has built a loyal following by serving fresh, handmade Greek and Italian dishes with warmth, consistency, and heart.

Now, after 33 years of feeding the community, Saturday, April 25 will mark the final day guests can stop in and enjoy one last meal at this local favorite.

Serving Huntington Station Since 1993

For generations, Zaro’s Cafe has been more than just a place to eat—it has been a gathering place for families, friends, and neighbors. Located on West Jericho Turnpike, the restaurant has grown alongside the community while staying true to its roots: quality ingredients, fair prices, and genuine hospitality.

Its longevity is a testament to the relationships built over the years, with many customers returning time and time again for both the food and the familiar faces behind the counter.

Traditional Recipes Crafted with Care

Zaro’s Cafe earned its reputation by sticking to what it does best—classic Greek and Italian cuisine made fresh daily. The menu features everything from gyros and Mediterranean platters to personal pizzas and hearty salads.

Favorites like homemade spanakopita, creamy tzatziki, hummus, and baba ghanoush highlight the care and authenticity that went into every dish. And for many loyal customers, Zaro’s was known for serving one of the best gyros on Long Island—a claim that kept people coming back for years.

A Family Business That Fought to Stay Open

Like many small businesses, Zaro’s Cafe faced immense challenges in recent years. From the impact of COVID-19 to rising food and labor costs, the hurdles became increasingly difficult to overcome.

Owner Edmond Zarou worked tirelessly to keep the restaurant afloat. From offering specials and engaging the community to showing up daily on social media to promote the business, his efforts reflected a deep commitment to preserving what Zaro’s meant to Huntington Station.

Despite doing everything possible, the economic pressures proved too much to sustain long-term operations.

One Last Chance to Support a Local Favorite

As Zaro’s Cafe prepares to close its doors, the community has one final opportunity to show appreciation for a business that has given so much over the years.

Whether it’s stopping in for one last gyro, placing a takeout order, or simply thanking the family for their decades of service, every visit matters.

A Final Goodbye Worth Showing Up For

Zaro’s Cafe has spent 30 years supporting the Huntington Station community—now it’s time for the community to show up for them.

Make plans to visit before Saturday, April 25, and help send this beloved local spot off the way it deserves: with full tables, familiar faces, and the kind of support that defined its legacy.

Because places like Zaro’s aren’t just restaurants—they’re part of the fabric of Long Island.
