From the family behind BRGRS, the Singh brothers open an elevated Punjabi restaurant and cocktail bar
The team that brought Huntington the wildly popular BRGRS is back — this time with something entirely new. Introducing Kahani, meaning “story” in Hindi — a stunning new Punjabi restaurant and cocktail bar located on New York Avenue, in the former home of Lasagna Restaurant. Behind Kahani are brothers Amarjit “Rana” Singh, Daljit “Raja” Singh, and Jasprit “Bobby” Singh, who have once again teamed up to share their deep-rooted passion for hospitality, food, and family.
The concept behind Kahani is as heartfelt as it is flavorful. Every dish, drink, and design detail tells a part of their family’s journey from Punjab, India, to Long Island.

A Culinary Journey Through Punjab
At the helm of the kitchen is Culinary Director Raja Singh, who began cooking as soon as he could hold a spoon, alongside Head Chef Karma Dorji, who brings over 25 years of culinary experience. Together, they’ve created a menu that blends nostalgia with innovation, highlighting the rich, aromatic cuisine of northern India’s Punjab region.

Standout dishes include:
Kurkuri Bhindi – crispy okra fries with curry leaf dust
Lamb Kali Mirch – braised, flash-fried lamb with garlic, onions, and peppers
Fish Amritsari – a fried fish specialty from Amritsar
Delhi Chaat – a medley of crispy papdi crackers, yogurt, mint, and tamarind chutneys
Patiala Lamb Chops – cooked in the tandoor and served on skewers in a copper tandoor pot
Kahani Chicken – simmered in creamy mango-cilantro curry
Punjabi Bharta – smoky roasted eggplant slow-cooked with tomatoes
Shikari Steak Tikka – tandoor-charred and sautéed with curry leaves, chili, ginger, and garlic
One standout dish, Billo’s Biryani, pays tribute to the brothers’ late mother, whose nickname “Billo” inspired the name.
A Cocktail Program with Heart and Resilience
Kahani’s bar program tells another remarkable story — that of Rana Singh, the eldest brother and mixologist, whose comeback to hospitality is nothing short of inspiring. After a devastating car accident left him partially paralyzed, Rana spent years in recovery before returning to do what he loves most: crafting experiences that bring people together.
His cocktail creations blend modern mixology with the soul of Indian flavors — featuring spices and botanicals like cardamom, tamarind, and saffron. Highlights include:

Rose & Cardamom – gin, rose syrup, and cardamom bitters
Imli Whiskey Sour – a tamarind twist on the classic
Saffron Don – vodka, lychee, lemon, and saffron
The Peg – a smoked whiskey-based cocktail
Chai-Tini – a spiced take on the espresso martini made with chai cold brew
An Atmosphere of Mughal-Era Elegance
Kahani’s design exudes warmth, sophistication, and a touch of royal opulence. Inspired by India’s Mughal era, the restaurant is divided into two inviting spaces:
The front bar area, anchored by an 80-year-old mahogany bar and Italian marble floors. The back dining room, featuring plush forest green tufted banquettes, marble-topped tables, dark wood floors with Persian rugs, vintage Indian art, and 16 crystal chandeliers imported from India.
Every corner of Kahani feels both intimate and grand, setting the perfect stage for unforgettable evenings filled with flavor, music, and conversation.

Give Kahani a Try!
With Kahani, the Singh brothers invite Long Islanders to experience not just a meal, but a story — one of family, perseverance, and passion. From the bold, aromatic dishes to the artful cocktails and breathtaking ambiance, Kahani captures the essence of Indian hospitality and transforms it into something uniquely Huntington.
Now open on New York Avenue, Kahani is more than a restaurant — it’s the next great chapter in the Singh family’s ongoing story.
