The End of an Era in Sayville
A beloved Long Island staple is preparing to close its doors. South Quarter, the Sayville-based store that became home to the iconic Long Island Strong brand, has announced it will be closing, marking the end of a chapter for a business that has meant so much to the local community. Known for its nostalgic 80s vibe, Long Island pride, and deep community roots, South Quarter has been more than just a clothing store—it has been a symbol of hometown love.
Now, as the owners look ahead to their next chapters, they are inviting the community to stop in one last time, stock up on favorites, and celebrate everything the brand has represented over the past decade.
South Quarter & Long Island Strong: Built on Island Pride
Long Island Strong is a widely loved apparel brand recognized for its signature T-shirts and beach-inspired designs that celebrate life on Long Island. Operating out of Sayville, the brand gained a loyal following both locally and beyond, offering clothing that allowed people to proudly wear their love for the Island.
The brand was founded in 2015 by Terrance Saporito, Brian Jones, Chris Wade, and Al Carrabis. In 2021, the group expanded their vision by opening South Quarter—a retail space that perfectly captured their identity. With an unmistakable 80s aesthetic, South Quarter quickly stood out for its retro décor, vintage soda-machine-inspired racks, old-school video game displays, and carefully curated Long Island–themed apparel for adults and kids alike.

A Store with Heart, Purpose, and Community Impact
Beyond the clothing, what truly set South Quarter and Long Island Strong apart was their impact on the community. Over the years, the brand donated tens of thousands of dollars to local charities, organizations, and individuals in need. Their designs helped foster a shared sense of pride, unity, and connection among Long Islanders.
In announcing the closure on Instagram, the owners shared that while the decision was emotional, it was made with pride rather than sadness. As they explained, life has evolved—children have grown, careers have expanded, and priorities have shifted. What once began as an idea has become a meaningful success story, and now it is time for the next phase.
What’s Next—and One Last Chance to Shop
While South Quarter is closing, the owners shared that Long Island Strong is not disappearing entirely. The brand will remain active in supporting charities, fundraisers, and licensing projects, leaving the door open for future possibilities.
For now, however, shoppers are encouraged to stop in while they still can. South Quarter is liquidating all merchandise over the next few weeks, offering major discounts both in-store and online:
30% off all Long Island Strong and South Quarter merchandise
Up to 70% off everything else in the store
Open Thursday through Sunday only
Once it’s gone, it may truly be gone for good.
