Viral food trends meet local restaurants offering playful, affordable nights out

Restaurant trends are constantly evolving, and two fun concepts currently making waves on social media are “Girl Dinner” and “Adult Happy Meals.” Both trends tap into nostalgia and simplicity while creating a playful dining experience that doesn’t break the bank.

From martinis paired with comfort food classics to grown-up versions of childhood favorites, several Long Island restaurants are embracing these trends and putting their own creative spin on them. For diners looking for a casual night out with friends—or just an excuse to try something different—these themed specials offer a fun way to enjoy a meal while supporting local businesses.

The Rise of “Girl Dinner”

The “Girl Dinner” trend went viral online for its laid-back approach to dining. Rather than a traditional multi-course meal, it’s usually a mix of favorite comfort foods—think Caesar salad, fries, pasta, and a martini—served as a simple but satisfying combination.

It’s designed to be fun, social, and a little indulgent, making it perfect for a night out with friends. Several Long Island spots have leaned into the trend, offering their own versions of the now-famous combo.

Rudi’s – Patchogue

At Rudi’s, Thursday nights are officially for Girl Dinner. From 5 p.m. to midnight, guests can enjoy a $30 special that includes a small Caesar salad, a bowl of penne alla vodka, crispy fries, and an espresso martini.

The lively Patchogue hotspot is known for always having something going on, and this new weekly special adds another reason to stop by with friends.

Southpaw Brewing Company – Yaphank

Over at Southpaw Brewing Company, Mondays are dedicated to “Snacks • Sips • No Rules.” Their Girl Dinner runs from 7:30–9:30 p.m. for $32 per person and includes truffle fries, Caesar salad, penne vodka, and a martini, with the option to add garlic bread for an extra $5.

Set inside the laid-back brewery environment, it’s the perfect start-of-the-week hangout.

King Bar at The Garden City Hotel – Garden City

For a more upscale take, King Bar at The Garden City Hotel offers a stylish “Happy Girl Dinner” on Mondays and Tuesdays. The $26++ special features Caesar salad, truffle fries with black truffle and Parmesan, and a Tito’s or Tanqueray martini.

Set within the elegant surroundings of The Garden City Hotel, it’s a chic way to kick off the week.

Nostalgia Meets Cocktails: Adult Happy Meals

If Girl Dinner celebrates casual comfort food, Adult Happy Meals lean heavily into nostalgia. Inspired by the classic fast-food combo many grew up with, these meals feature familiar favorites like burgers, nuggets, or hot dogs—often paired with fries and a cocktail.

It’s comfort food with a grown-up twist, and several Long Island spots are making it part of their menu.

Standard Rec – Patchogue

At Standard Rec, Adult Happy Meals are served during Friday and Saturday late nights for just $13. Each meal includes tater tots, a cookie, and even a toy, with a choice of:

Chicken nuggets with BBQ or buffalo sauce

A single smash cheeseburger with American cheese, pickles, and ketchup (add bacon for $2)

A fried chicken snack wrap with lettuce, bacon, and cheese

Guests can also spend time playing skee-ball and classic arcade games, making it feel like a throwback night out.

Bonus: Standard Rec, also offers a Girl Dinner special on Thursday nights. For $20, guests can enjoy a fried chicken Caesar salad with fries, with the option to upgrade to truffle fries or add a dirty martini for $8.

Courtside Sport + Social – Babylon

One of the newest spots embracing the trend is Courtside Sport + Social, a pickleball-themed sports bar that opened in early 2026. Their Adult Happy Meals feature comfort food classics served with fries, a simple green salad, or Caesar salad, with choices such as:

Courtside nuggets with housemade dips

Cheeseburger with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles

Hot dog with relish, onion, ketchup, and mustard

Each meal also includes a cocktail of choice, such as a dirty martini, Old Fashioned, Moscow mule, Negroni, or Manhattan, creating a nostalgic but elevated dining experience.
