Domenico’s Says Farewell After 58 Years
After nearly six decades of serving authentic Italian fare and hosting cherished celebrations, Domenico’s Restaurant in Levittown has announced it will be closing its doors for good on June 29. In a message to loyal patrons, the beloved family-run eatery shared the difficult news, thanking customers for “58 years of unforgettable memories” and expressing gratitude to the community that supported them through generations.
“Please come in these last few weeks and see us,” the message reads. “We would love to see as many of you as we can.”
The American Dream Served with Sauce at Domenico’s
The story of Domenico’s is one rooted in the American dream. Founder Domenico Belcastro arrived in the U.S. with little more than ambition and a love for traditional Italian cooking. In 1967, he opened Domenico’s in Levittown, sharing recipes passed down from his grandmother in Calabria, Italy—dishes crafted with love, skill, and only the finest imported ingredients.
What began as a humble pizzeria with a small dining area quickly became a regional destination for those seeking old-world Italian flavors and warm, welcoming service.
Domenico’s is More Than a Restaurant
Over the years, Domenico’s evolved into much more than a restaurant. It became a full-service catering facility with four event rooms, capable of hosting intimate gatherings and large celebrations alike. Locals trusted Domenico’s to provide the food and atmosphere for weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs, communions, sweet 16s, fundraisers, and school events.
In recent years, Domenico’s also made a name for itself as an entertainment venue, hosting Murder Mystery dinners, comedy nights, and live musical performances that kept the dining experience fresh, festive, and community-focused.

A Future Uncertain—But Not Forgotten
Though the family hinted that Domenico’s story may not be entirely over, there are currently no concrete plans for the future. For now, the focus is on giving the community one last chance to dine at a place that has meant so much to so many.
Support Local Before It’s Too Late
The closing of Domenico’s is a sobering reminder: every time a local favorite shuts its doors, we lose a piece of our community’s heart. These businesses aren’t just places to eat—they’re places where memories are made, milestones are celebrated, and relationships are built.
If you’ve ever enjoyed a meal at Domenico’s, consider visiting one last time before June 29. And going forward, let’s all commit to supporting the local gems that make Long Island such a vibrant place to live. Because once they’re gone, they’re gone.
