Elevated comfort food meets hometown bar vibes in Long Island’s newest must-try restaurant
There’s something special about finding a place that just feels right. Lately, I’ve caught myself saying how much I miss those true neighborhood bar/restaurants—the kind of spot you can go for lunch, bring the kids for dinner, grab drinks on a Friday night, or settle in to watch a game and feel like you belong there. So when I heard about Frankie’s Table -a new spot that opened this January with the promise of “the food you’d expect at a high-end restaurant, and the atmosphere you’d want from your hometown bar”—I knew I had to check it out.
A Hidden Gem in the Making
Pulling up to Frankie’s Table, I instantly got excited. Tucked into an unassuming strip mall in Commack (which, let’s be honest, is often where the best hidden gems live), I had a feeling this place might be something special.
Frankie’s Table is named after one of the owner’s daughters, Francesca, and is a collaboration between the teams behind Whiskey Neat, Big Belly Que, and Off The Bay. With that kind of experience behind it, expectations were already high—and spoiler alert—they delivered.
The concept is simple but powerful: create a hometown tavern where locals feel at home, but that’s also good enough to impress out-of-town guests.
First Impressions: Nostalgic Meets Modern
Walking in, the vibe immediately hits you. It’s nostalgic, yet fresh. The bar area features a stunning prohibition-era backdrop that feels timeless, while the dining space gives you exactly what you’d want from a neighborhood pub—comfortable, inviting, and unpretentious.
We were greeted by Jared, who was essentially running the show solo—and doing it incredibly well. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic, he guided us through the menu, and we happily took his recommendations without hesitation.

Drinks Done Right
We kicked things off with an Old Fashioned (bourbon, demerara, angostura, orange zest) and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
Now, I’ll be honest—we’re a little picky when it comes to both. But both drinks completely impressed us. The Old Fashioned was balanced and smooth, and the Sauvignon Blanc was crisp, cold, and refreshing—exactly what you want. I genuinely regret not ordering a second glass.
A Strong Start: Appetizers That Set the Tone
We started with the Bacon Jam Sliders and the French Onion Soup—and both were standout dishes.
The sliders, made with tri-blend beef, melted sharp cheddar, bacon jam, and a pickle on a soft toasted bun, were anything but ordinary. You could actually taste the quality—no grease overload, just perfectly balanced flavor.
And the French onion soup? Easily one of the best I’ve had recently. Rich, comforting, and topped with that perfect bubbling layer of gruyère—it’s officially in my regular rotation now.
Another huge plus: Frankie’s Table offers a wide variety of gluten-free options, making it accessible without sacrificing flavor.

The Star of the Show: That French Dip
For entrées, we had to try the French Dip—and let me tell you, this is a sandwich worth driving for.
Made with slow-cooked prime rib, topped with Swiss and gruyère, and served on a perfectly soft Portuguese panini with au jus and hand-cut fries, it was everything you want and more. The bread, the meat, the flavor—it all worked together flawlessly.
I have a feeling this dish is about to have a major moment on social media.
We also tried the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which delivered a perfect crunch with a spicy kick from the aioli and slaw. And those hand-cut fries? Addictive.

Ending on a Sweet Note
Even though we were completely stuffed, Jared convinced us to go for dessert—and I’m so glad he did.
We paired his favorite dessert (a churro-like cake with raspberry sauce and fresh whipped cream) with an Espresso Martini, and it was the perfect ending. Sweet, indulgent, and just the right amount of over-the-top.

What I Loved Most about Frankie’s Table
What stood out to me the most wasn’t just the food—though that alone is worth the visit—it was the feeling.
Frankie’s Table brings back that sense of a true neighborhood spot. The kind of place that’s welcoming, consistent, and easy to return to again and again. Add in the high-quality food, thoughtful menu, gluten-free options, and excellent service, and it really checks every box.
They also offer a fantastic lunch and happy hour, and the full menu is available late (until 11pm), which is a huge bonus.
Final Thoughts: Make Frankie’s Table Your New Go-To Spot
Would I recommend Frankie’s Table? Absolutely—without hesitation.
If you’ve been craving that perfect mix of comfort, quality, and community, this is it. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual lunch, a family dinner, or drinks at the bar, Frankie’s Table delivers on every level.
Do yourself a favor: go check it out, order the French Dip… and thank me later.
