If you’re always on the lookout for a great lunch deal on Long Island, you’re going to want to check out Jackson Hall American Bar & Grill in Islip. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, fantastic service, and hearty portions, Jackson Hall takes things up a notch with its unbeatable lunch special: two courses for just $17.95!

I recently had the chance to experience it firsthand, and let me tell you—it’s a deal that’s hard to pass up!

Warm Hospitality & A Cozy Atmosphere

From the moment we walked in, the friendly staff made us feel right at home. The hostess seated us in a spacious booth in the bar area, and our server, Alex, who was also tending the bar, came right over to greet us.

Since we were in full “ladies who lunch” mode, we decided to treat ourselves to a glass of wine while Alex filled us in on the incredible lunch special, which runs Monday through Friday from 12-3 PM (dine-in only, no substitutions).

Appetizers (Choose One)

• Cup of Soup: French Onion or Lobster Bisque (+$4.95)

• Side Salad: House or Caesar

• Chicken Wings: (4) Buffalo, Teriyaki, BBQ, Garlic Parmesan, Honey Chipotle

• New York Style Pretzel: Served with cheese sauce & mustard

• Crispy Fried Mozzarella: Served with marinara sauce

• Boneless Tenders: (3) Buffalo/Teriyaki/BBQ/Garlic Parmesan/Honey Chipotle

•Loaded Fries: mixed cheeses, gravy, bacon & truffle oil

•Cheese Nachos: melted cheese, cheese sauce,, scallions, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo

•Cheese Quesadilla: cheese & onions (add buffalo chicken or grilled chicken for $4.95)

Main Courses (Choose One)

• Fish & Chips: Beer-battered cod & shrimp, fries, cole slaw, and a pickle

• Chicken Portofino: Grilled or fried chicken, topped with mixed greens, fresh mozzarella, onions, tomatoes, & balsamic glaze

• Fresco Salad: Grilled or fried chicken, mixed greens, chickpeas, red peppers, olives, onions, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, cucumbers, & onions in a creamy balsamic dressing

• Classic Cheeseburger: 8 oz. Black Angus beef with American cheese, lettuce, & tomato, served with fries, cole slaw, & a pickle

• Roast Beef French Dip: Sliced roast beef on semolina bread with melted mozzarella, served with a side of au jus for dipping, fries, cole slaw, & a pickle

•Meatloaf: sliced meatloaf on top of mashed potatoes & gravy with fried onions

•Grilled Chicken Panini: grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers & basil pesto on ciabatta bread

•Garden Veggie Wrap: mixed greens, tomatoes, red peppers, carrots, cucumbers, onions & fresh mozzarella tossed in a creamy balsamic dressing in a spinach wrap

•Chicken Penne Alla Vodka: sautéed chicken, spinach & prosciutto in a pink cream sauce

The Meal: Flavorful, Filling, and Worth Every Penny

To start, we chose the New York Style Pretzel and Crispy Fried Mozzarella. The pretzel was massive—soft, warm, and perfect for dipping in the creamy cheese sauce (I skipped the mustard, but my friend loved it!). The fried mozzarella was crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and paired perfectly with the house-made marinara.

For our main courses, I couldn’t resist the Classic Cheeseburger, while my friend opted for the Roast Beef French Dip. Both dishes were generously portioned, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. The burger was juicy and flavorful, while the French Dip was rich and satisfying, with the au jus adding just the right amount of depth.

The portions were so big that we even had leftovers—which still tasted amazing later!

Melissa Farrell has a mission to support local business by "Going Local." As a local business owner herself, she understands the struggles entrepreneurs face when owning a business and is always trying to find ways to shine a spotlight onto them. Melissa started Going Local Tours & Experiences back in 2020 during the pandemic in hopes to bring people back into local restaurants and shops. She created food tours in Huntington, NY that would stop at 3-4 local businesses and gave the guests the chance to meet the owner and hear the story behind the business. She soon realized how powerful storytelling is when connecting people to local businesses and created options with local store owners as well to bring them onto the tour to share their story. Melissa wanted to expand out of Huntington to be able to support even more local businesses and started creating luxury picnics where she would bring local to you! She would find local businesses in the area of the picnic set up and deliver it to you offering ways to support over 3 local businesses at each picnic. This wasn't enough. She wanted to find a better way to help spread awareness of local businesses and share their stories. Enter Evangeline Knell...a woman with over 30 years of broadcasting experience who somehow convinced Melissa to host a 3 day live stream from the Huntington Fall Festival. She had never been on camera before, but working alongside Evie to create the 3 shows, gave Melissa the confidence to take on the challenge. The 3 shows produced focused on the local vendors, the food trucks and the events that occurred at the festival and had a much larger reach than Melissa could ever of done on her own. They soon realized a business partnership was needed and combined their two businesses, Identity Digital which is a production company and Going Local Tours and Experiences to form Going Local Media. Evie and Melissa even formed their own distribution outlet by creating Going Local TV, a streaming platform like Netflix or YouTube, that is all about local businesses, events and organizations on Long Island. There are over 200 videos including their podcast series "Let's Get Local" "Long Island Business Minds" and "Local Business Spotlight" that help spread awareness of our local businesses and Long Island Professionals. They are always thinking up new ways to support local, including this site, Going Local Long Island is a directory of articles on how to Go Local on Long Island.
