As a mom, I’m always on the lookout for places that can make both my adventurous eater, Lucas (who’s 8), and my picky eater, Max (who’s 6), happy. And Zaza Japan? It’s officially on my radar for both of them—and for me too!
Zaza Japan is located at 4000 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport (in the old Sears shopping center) and is known for their fresh, authentic Japanese food and for being Family Friendly!
Great Service & Welcoming Vibe at Zaza Japan
First off, the staff at Zaza Japan is so friendly. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel right at home. They were super patient with my little ones—especially when we took our time deciding what to order. It’s not every day you find a place with such a warm, welcoming vibe.
And did I mention the new claw games out front? My kids were so excited to test their skills and take a break between bites. It’s the perfect way to keep them entertained while you wait for the food!
What to Order at Zaza Japan
Now, onto the food. Let’s talk about the sashimi platter. The fish was incredibly fresh, and even though Lucas is usually all about trying new things, I didn’t expect him to dive into the delicate slices of tuna and salmon so willingly. He actually loved it! (Max, on the other hand, stuck with the rice, but hey, we’re making progress.)
And then there was the sashimi pizza—talk about a creative twist! It’s thin, crispy, and topped with delicious, buttery sashimi and some spicy mayo. It was a hit with Lucas for sure. Max wasn’t as keen, but he took a bite, so that’s a win in my book.
The chef’s specialty rolls were out of this world. Each one was packed with flavor and beautifully crafted. I loved how they incorporated unique ingredients into the rolls that were fun and a little daring—but also approachable enough for the kids to try. It was the perfect balance of adventurous and familiar.
For appetizers, we tried the lamb chop—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. I was surprised how much both of my kids liked it, especially Lucas, who’s always up for something new. As for the crispy rice, it’s a must-try! Crispy on the outside, soft and savory inside. It’s like nothing I’ve tasted before, and it’s addictive.

The Hibachi Was a Hit With the Whole Fam!
Finally, the hibachi—wow! The chicken, steak, and shrimp were grilled to perfection, and the noodles and fried rice were just what the kids needed. The fried rice was simple but tasty, which made it easy for Max to dig in, while Lucas couldn’t stop raving about the shrimp and the steak.
Plus, the Hibachi experience itself is like having dinner with a show. The Hibachi chef was so fun and had my kids laughing the entire time!

Zaza Japan is the Perfect Spot to Bring the Kids!
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The food is perfect for both adventurous eaters and those with a more selective palate (like Max). Plus, the friendly atmosphere made it a special outing for the whole family. We’ll definitely be coming back for round two! Make sure to give Zaza Japan at try if you’re looking for places that are family friendly!
