Finley's of Green Street

A beloved Huntington staple prepares to close its doors, inviting the community to celebrate its final days together

For more than three decades, Finley’s of Green Street has been a cornerstone of Huntington Village nightlife and community. First opening in 1992, taking over the space once home to the legendary Garvin’s, the family-run establishment quickly became a gathering spot for locals.

Owned by John and Sandra Finley and their son Shannon, the bar earned a reputation for being the kind of place where, much like the iconic Cheers, “everybody knows your name.”

Finley’s is More Than Just a Bar

Finley’s has always been more than a place to grab a drink. It’s been a place where countless couples first met, where engagements turned into marriages, and where families brought their babies who have since grown up alongside the bar.

For decades, it’s been a tradition to gather at Finley’s during the St. Patrick’s Parade, and the staff—many of whom have been there for years—has created a warm, family-like atmosphere that has kept generations of patrons coming back. Even outside of work, the staff celebrated birthdays, “Sunday Fundays,” and countless memories that will last a lifetime. They are, and always will be, the heart and soul of Finley’s.

Why Finley’s is Closing

Like many longtime establishments, Finley’s has struggled with the rising costs of food and labor, a shift in dining and nightlife habits, and the lingering challenges from the pandemic. While they’ve fought hard to keep the doors open, the economic pressures have proven too great. The owner announced that by the end of this month, the lights will dim for the last time at this Huntington staple.

A Final Call to the Community

While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, Finley’s is asking for the community’s support during its final days. Whether it’s sharing a toast, enjoying one last weekend of dancing, or simply thanking the staff who have been part of so many memories, every visit makes a difference. Who knows—if enough people come out to celebrate, it might even extend their run just a little longer.
