The Quirky and Beloved Northport Leg Lamp Lighting
Saturday, November 29, 2025 | 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM | 90 Main Street, Northport
No holiday season in Northport Village would be complete without the legendary Leg Lamp Lighting — a delightfully whimsical celebration that captures the heart and humor of this tight-knit community.
What began twenty years ago as a joke between the mayor and the owners of the Northport Hardware Company has grown into a full-fledged community event, attracting visitors from all over Long Island. Together, the village “lights up Northport” with laughter, creativity, and good cheer.
This year’s event features special performances by The Community Playhouse, Posey School of Dance, Northport High School Tigerettes, and The Viki Sorrentino Foundation, plus a post-lighting reception with The Drama Kings. Guests can enjoy raffles with prizes from local businesses, a 50/50 drawing, hot chocolate courtesy of Shipwreck Diner, and a food drive supporting Island Harvest.
It’s a celebration of local art, local heart, and the community’s shared ability to turn something quirky into something spectacular.
