The Paramount Concert Venue in Huntington

As first reported in The Long Islander, The Paramount, founded 13 years ago by owners Dominick Catoggio, Jim Condron, Brian Doyle, and Stephen Ubertini after the closing of the Intermedia Arts Center – IMAC – at the same location from 1983-2009, has been sold To Live Nation for an undisclosed sum, with the deal expected to close within 90 days. “This strategic transaction ensures that The Paramount’s mission of delivering top-notch live entertainment to its loyal patrons will continue to thrive under the new ownership,” says the founders.

After its renovation to the space and removing many of the ceiling baffles and coverings during IMAC’s day, the 1,555-seat theatre re-opened as the Paramount in 2011. The theatre in recent years has become Long Island’s preeminent concert venue space, with a #1 total box office grossing venue worldwide as reported by Pollstar, with upcoming shows including hosting Elle King, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Everclear, and comedian Jim Breuer.

The building housing the Paramount first opened as The Huntington Theatre in 1927, initially running silent films and presenting vaudeville shows.

The deal includes the theatre, the “Founder’s Room,” a special event venue initially reserved for capital funders of the organization, as well as Spotlight at the Paramount, located adjacent to the lobby and Ella’s, a Huntington restaurant.

The report goes on to mention that existing staffs of Paramount, Spotlight, and Ellas will remain without impace.

Town of Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth commented, “The Paramount has been and will con-tinue to be a world famous venue bringing top performers to Huntington. The Paramount is fully invested in the local community, opening its doors to countless worthy causes. It is the model for other venues that look to make a mark on the world stage while supporting their local community. Huntington looks forward to continuing this great working relationship with Live Nation and the new management of the Paramount.”

The founders are reported to now have the opportunity to take a breath. “It has been an honor to bring live entertainment back to Huntington and to resurrect a building with a deep-rooted history in the arts of our special town.”
