After a weekend store grand opening on February 24 which saw lines of customers and well-wishers extend well across town deep into Huntington Village, “The Snooki Shop,” owned by “Jersey Shore’s” Nicole Polizzi, made it official with a formal ribbon cutting organized by the Huntington Chamber of Commerce.
Featuring apparel, gifts and merch personally picked and organized by Polizzi, The Huntington location is the “Jersey Shore” star’s third, with sister stores in Madison and Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The store’s opening was first announced last August on social media. This new location replaces a former store in Beacon, New York, in Dutchess County.
Present for the ribbon cutting and festivities was Polizzi herself, Gina Cecala, Chief Operating Officer of The Snooki Shop, and the complete contingent of staff and management for the Huntington store. A well-behaved and enthusiastic crowd once again extended past Gerard Street in Huntington, giving big cheers as Polizzi arrived before the event.
Also in attendance was “Jersey Shore’s” Angelina Pivarnick and an extensive production crew from 495 Productions, producers of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation,” which was filming the festivities for an upcoming episode to air on MTV.
Local officials included State Senator Mario Mattera, representatives from Suffolk County Legislator Stephanie Bontempi, Town of Huntington Deputy Town Supervisor John McCarron, Superintendent of Highways Andre Sorrentino, Town Clerk Andrew Raia, and Town Councilwoman Theresa Mari.
Immediately after the ribbon cutting, Polizzi greeted customers both inside and outside the shop and without hesitation took time to pose for extensive photos with customers.
With a faith and desire to support local, the “Shop” staff was pleasantly surprised at both the turnout of both the grand opening and the ribbon cutting. “We couldn’t believe how many showed up for us,” said Faith Fling, Store Manager of the Huntington location.
The “Shop” already has joined local Chambers and looks forward to becoming an effective and important part of the Huntington community, with Fling already participating in local chamber events and meetings.
