From Cajun cuisine to festive cocktails and live jazz, local businesses are bringing the spirit of New Orleans close to home
When people think of Mardi Gras, images of New Orleans parades, colorful beads, lively jazz music, and indulgent king cake often come to mind. Mardi Gras — or “Fat Tuesday” — is the vibrant celebration held the day before the Christian season of Lent begins, traditionally marked by feasting, festivities, and community gatherings.
While New Orleans may be the most famous destination, Long Island businesses are embracing the tradition and offering festive ways to celebrate locally this year. With Fat Tuesday falling on February 17, residents don’t need a flight to Louisiana to enjoy the flavors, music, and fun of the season.
