New Farmers Market Truck Brings Free Produce to Those in Need

Hauppauge-based Long Island Cares launches a new, fully refrigerated farmers’ market truck today at the Harry Chapin Food Bank & Humanitarian Center in Huntington Station, bringing with it not just fresh produce, but a wave of hope for food-insecure Long Islanders. The custom-designed truck was made possible thanks to a generous $250,000 grant from Bank of America.

The new truck serves as a symbol of community support and resilience. Each week, it will travel to various locations across the two counties, bringing fresh, Long Island – and New York State-grown produce directly to those who need it most. The goal? To serve over 250 individuals weekly, ensuring that everyone has access to healthy, nourishing food.

Made possible with funding from Bank of America, Long Island Cares’ partner for over a decade, the newly launched farmers market truck is expected to serve more than 250 individuals each week at locations across Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Celebrating the launch today was Paule Pachter, CEO, Long Island Cares, and Marc Perez, President, Bank of America, Long Island.

The new Long Island Cares farmers’ market truck represents a significant step forward in Long Island Cares’ mission to combat food insecurity. It’s a testament to the power of community collaboration and a reminder that even in challenging times, hope and healthy food can bloom.
