A Grassroots Movement Unites 311 Pizzerias and Thousands of Residents for a Powerful Cause

In a remarkable display of unity and generosity, Long Island once again proved the strength of its community through the efforts of Long Island Pizza Strong. The grassroots initiative brought together hundreds of local pizzerias and residents on February 25, 2026, to support the family of Officer Patricia Espinosa, whose life was tragically lost in a drunk-driving incident.

Through a simple yet impactful concept—donating $5 from every pizza pie sold—this community-driven effort raised an extraordinary $188,000, reinforcing the idea that even small contributions can create meaningful change when people come together.

A Community United Through Food

On the day of the fundraiser, 311 pizzerias across Long Island participated, collectively selling 33,223 pizza pies. Every dollar raised went directly to Officer Espinosa’s family, with organizers ensuring that 100% of the proceeds were delivered to support them during an incredibly difficult time.

In addition to pizza sales, the initiative was further strengthened by generous corporate sponsors and additional donations from residents, amplifying the overall impact of the event.

The Visionaries Behind Long Island Pizza Strong

Founded in 2023, Long Island Pizza Strong was created by three passionate community leaders determined to make a difference:

Alyssa Guidice, a strong advocate for Long Island’s restaurant scene and founder of the popular Dine-LI Facebook group

Anthony Laurino, a seasoned restaurateur with over 35 years of experience

Jim Serpico, who brings creative vision and leadership to the initiative

Together, they transformed a simple idea into a powerful movement—mobilizing local pizzerias to support families facing tragedy and hardship.

“This fundraiser really is a double whammy — you get to help twice by supporting a local family while also showing love to a local business,” said Alyssa Guidice. “We know donating $5 per pie can add up quickly these days, so we truly appreciate every pizzeria that participates and completely understand those that simply can’t.”

A Proven Track Record of Impact

This latest fundraiser is just one example of Long Island Pizza Strong’s growing impact across the region. Since its founding, the organization has consistently delivered meaningful support through large-scale community efforts:

October 25, 2023 – Farmingdale Bus Crash Relief: 143 pizzerias sold 15,437 pies, raising $102,200

April 17, 2024 – Honoring Officer Jonathan Diller & First Responders: 257 pizzerias sold 31,377 pies, generating $181,500

October 23, 2024 – West Babylon Crash Relief: 199 locations sold 18,856 pies, raising $105,000

Each event underscores the same message: when Long Islanders come together, the impact is powerful and immediate.

More Than Just Pizza

What makes Long Island Pizza Strong so unique is its simplicity and accessibility. By turning something as familiar as ordering a pizza into an act of giving, the initiative allows anyone to participate—whether they’re a business owner or a local resident.

It also creates a ripple effect, supporting both families in need and the local restaurant industry at the same time.

A Community That Shows Up

The success of this most recent fundraiser is a testament to the heart of Long Island—a place where neighbors support neighbors and local businesses step up in times of need.

Long Island Pizza Strong continues to prove that when community, compassion, and collaboration come together, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. As the organization looks ahead to future initiatives, one thing is clear: Long Island will always show up when it matters most.
