Port Jefferson is about to get a taste of Montauk when Ditch, the coastal eatery inspired by Ditch Plains, debuts its newly renovated space at 140 Main Street. Taking over the former Spycoast location, Ditch will bring its signature surf-chic style, fresh coastal menu, and endless-summer atmosphere to the waterfront village.
Owner Tracy Smith, who spent his childhood summers at Ditch Plains soaking up the sun and watching surfers take on the waves, has channeled those memories into every detail—from the weathered wood interiors and vibrant murals to the laidback hospitality and fresh, beach-inspired menu.
From Spycoast to Surf-Chic
While Spycoast’s owners weren’t actively seeking a change, the opportunity for Ditch to move in gave them the chance to focus on their Patchogue location—making the transition a perfect fit. Spycoast closed its Port Jefferson doors in mid-summer, and renovations began immediately to transform the space into a breezy, ocean-kissed escape.
Soft opening dates are set for August 11–14, with the official grand opening celebration taking place Friday, August 15.
Bringing the Bay Shore Vibe to the North Shore
Since opening in Bay Shore in 2023, Ditch has built a loyal following with its poke bowls, tacos, craft cocktails, and welcoming, sun-drenched energy. The Port Jefferson team, led by the executive chef and opening staff, has been training at the flagship location to ensure the Montauk spirit is infused into every dish.
“Our Port Jefferson spot will be a year-round beach food destination for locals, day-trippers, and anyone chasing that endless-summer feeling,” said Smith. “We can’t wait to bring new flavors, late-night tunes, and a slice of Montauk nostalgia to the North Shore.”
Late-Night Eats & Live Entertainment
Ditch Port Jefferson will keep the good vibes going late, staying open until 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays with live music and DJ sets. Takeout and delivery will also be available for those who want to enjoy the Ditch experience from the comfort of home.
