My Favorite “Go To” Spot in Islip: Americano Pie Bar

Great Food & Amazing Service at Americano

When I lived on the South Shore, my “Go To” spot in Islip was always Americano Pie Bar. It checks all the boxes I look for in a restaurant: great food, great service and nice ambiance. In addition, they have this one dish, Troffolini, that is probably the most delicious thing I have ever eaten and now crave constantly. More on that later.

My Father flew in yesterday and to celebrate, we decided to venture out to Islip for dinner at Americano. When we arrived, there was a wait for tables, but 3 seats available at the bar. As a bartender for over 25 years, I prefer to sit at the bar because I find the service and experience are always better. Now, this isn’t always the case, but last night it was.

Drink Options at Americano

When we sat down at the bar, we were greeted by Toni who offered us a cocktail menu to look over and said she would be right with us. I love a bartender who acknowledges you when you first arrive because that’s the first sign of excellent service.

The drink menu at Americano offers an extensive wine list with over 10 options by the glass. In addition, their cocktail menu is quite creative with drinks like their “Berry Bangster” (Raspberry puree, Stoli vodka and lime) or “Fragola Rock” (Tito’s, elderflower, lemon, strawberry and prosecco). I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc that came so cold, it was perfect.

On the Menu

Americano offers something for everyone with options ranging from specialty pizza pies to signature pasta dishes to Filet Mignon. One dish that is a MUST ORDER when visiting Americano, is their Troffolini. It’s stuffed pasta with ricotta and pear in a truffle cream sauce that is to die for! It’s so damn good that we were going to get 2 orders, but Toni shared a little secret with us. You can order it as an entree (secret menu item) where you get double the portion and it’s a little cheaper. Sign me up!

The famous Troffolini

Professional Tip: Don’t skip the bread when they ask if you would like some because its slamming! And the olive oil they serve with it, OMG. And, you can dip the bread in the Troffolini cream sauce. You’re welcome.

In addition, we ordered the Wedge Salad, the Antipasto for 2 and a Chicken Parmesan Hero to all share. When Toni took our order, she made sure to ask any necessary questions and offered suggestions that we gladly took. She was so kind and made us feel welcome the entire time.

When the food arrived, Toni checked back to see if we needed anything or a refill. The food was all delicious and like always, we over ordered and took the rest to go, so lunch today was also amazing. Even though we didn’t order one this time, I usually order a sicilian pie to go to enjoy the next day because their pies are fantastic so don’t skip out on those either!

Outstanding Service

Good service is hard to find these days and someone like Toni should be rewarded for the passion she puts into her craft. I was beyond impressed last night how she handled her full bar, made every customer feel special and was on top of anything we needed. Toni was the perfect bartender from start to finish. She made our experience at Americano even better than the Troffolini and that is saying A LOT! Thanks Toni!

Give Americano Pie Bar a Try!

If you have been a victim to bad restaurant service, do yourself a favor…head to Americano and take a seat at Toni’s bar to remind yourself that amazing service still exists! In addition, don’t skip the bread and order the Troffolini. You can thank me later.

Professional Tip: If you live in or near Farmingdale and are now craving this Troffolini I won’t shut up about, you can also score this dish at their sister restaurant, TRENTO.
