The Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is once again bringing the community together for the 11th Annual Port Jefferson Dragon Boat Race Festival, taking place on Saturday, September 13th from 8:30 AM – 5 PM at Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park and the Port Jeff Inner Harbor.
This highly anticipated event transforms the village’s waterfront into a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and competition, drawing locals and visitors alike to enjoy the thrill of dragon boat racing and much more.
Excitement on the Water
One of the biggest highlights of the day is cheering on the six dragon boat teams as they race in three heats across the scenic harbor. Teams compete in a fast-paced 250-meter sprint, combining athleticism, teamwork, and cultural tradition.
On land, festival-goers can enjoy additional fun with Land Dragon Races and a crowd-favorite Tug of War competition, ensuring there’s no shortage of action throughout the day.
Food, Fun, and Family Activities
The festival is about more than racing—it’s a full-day community celebration. Visitors can explore 20+ vendors, enjoy all-day entertainment, and take part in activities for all ages.
Food lovers are in for a treat, with delicious bites from local favorites including DJ’s Clam Shack, Naked Burger, CaféCito Café, The Good Food Truck, Tea Brew, Dilly Dilly Donuts, Dragon Bowl, and Salty Paws (specializing in dog-friendly ice cream and treats).
For families, there are kids’ crafts and activities, cultural performances, a dazzling Dragon Dance, and even a fire-breathing dragon display. Pet owners can get in on the fun too by entering the Dog “Dragon” Costume Contest for just $5.
