About FAM: Fighting Against Myeloma

FAM – Fighting Against Myeloma, Inc. was founded by Alexa Rolleri after her father, Ron Rolleri, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and plasma cell leukemia, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. Although her father is now in remission, the journey was marked by profound loss and hardship that ultimately inspired Alexa to create FAM. At just 23 years old, she learned of her father’s diagnosis shortly after losing her grandfather, while her grandmother was simultaneously in a three-year battle with cancer. Through these experiences, Alexa witnessed firsthand the emotional and financial devastation that serious illness can bring to families—fueling her commitment to advocacy, support, and awareness.

While medical care is often the focus, FAM was created to address the overwhelming non-medical burdens families endure—everyday expenses such as bills, childcare, transportation, groceries, pet care, and missed work. These pressures, though less visible, can be just as debilitating as the diagnosis itself.

FAM exists to provide timely, compassionate financial relief, offering help when families need it most—not months later, but in the moment life becomes overwhelming.

A Twofold Mission Rooted in Action

FAM’s mission centers on two critical goals:

Providing direct financial relief to families facing multiple myeloma and plasma cell leukemia by helping cover essential non-medical expenses insurance does not address.

Raising awareness and funding for myeloma research, supporting earlier detection, improved treatment options, and better long-term outcomes.

FAM works closely with the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) to share evidence-based resources, research updates, and educational content, empowering patients and caregivers to make informed decisions and advocate for themselves.

In addition, FAM is preparing to launch a caregiver support group led by Tracy Rolleri, Ron’s wife, recognizing the often-overlooked emotional and financial toll caregivers carry. This initiative will provide a safe space for connection, shared resources, and mutual support.

Since launching in August 2025, FAM has already helped several families cover essential household expenses. While the assistance may seem small, the impact has been life-changing for those navigating severe illness.

About the Fundraiser: A Night Built on Connection

Rock Out Myeloma 2026 is deeply personal and community-driven. The event features live performances by Face First, a band with longstanding ties to the Rolleri family. Alexa’s uncle, Allen Rolleri, has played with the band for years, and their participation reflects the authentic relationships at the heart of the event.

The fundraiser is hosted at Jackson Hall American Bar & Grill, thanks to the generosity of Chef Michael Landesberg, who has supported the event by offering his space, time, and platform to amplify awareness for myeloma. The collaboration is rooted in trust, shared history, and a mutual commitment to giving back.

Why Jackson Hall and Michael Landesberg Were the Perfect Partners

Chef Mike’s involvement goes far beyond providing a venue. Having personally battled and beaten breast cancer, he understands the emotional, physical, and financial realities of a cancer diagnosis. He has also led impactful fundraising efforts of his own, including All Boobs Matter, making him a natural and compassionate partner for this cause.

Voices Behind the Mission

FAM emphasizes that multiple myeloma is often referred to as a “silent cancer”, frequently going undetected until it has progressed. Increased awareness and early detection can significantly change outcomes and help families feel less alone.

Funds raised through Rock Out Myeloma will go directly toward easing the hidden costs of cancer—providing tangible financial relief so families can focus on healing rather than survival. Every dollar raised has a direct and meaningful impact.

How the Community Can Make a Difference

Rock Out Myeloma is a powerful example of what happens when music, food, and shared humanity come together for a greater purpose. This is not a corporate fundraiser—it is deeply personal, community-driven, and focused on action.

Supporters can make a difference by attending the event, donating, volunteering, sponsoring, or simply spreading the word. Every contribution helps ease the burden for families already carrying too much.

By showing up on January 15th, the community has the chance to stand with families affected by myeloma, support a vital local charity, and turn one night of music into lasting impact.
