Scentsational in Huntington Under New Ownership!

Scentsational

Scentsational is a specialized boutique store in the heart of Huntington Village. They specialize and are known for their huge selection of perfume oils. Their oils range from single note florals and musk’s to a wide variety of perfume blends. Some are copies of your favorite designer fragrances and others are exclusive blends they create in store.

Scentsational is a great spot to find meaningful, unique gifts for yourself or people you love. They strive to help their customers find a scent, gift, piece of jewelry, or whatever you need! They offer free gift wrapping, gift cards, and one of their most popular options is purchasing an empty bottle. They place a tag on the bottle that says “bring me in to be filled.” This way you are actually gifting the experience of creating your own scent!

History of Scentsational

Scentsational was opened in March of 1980 by Sarah Coulson and her partner Janice Hubers. Together, they made “Scent” what it is today with a great idea and continually keeping up with trends. They offer customers amazing scents and and a place to purchase fun, unique gift items.

Back in 1999, Krista, a sophmore in high school, started working for Janice and Sarah at Scentsational. Krista fell in love with the store and knew immediately this place would be a part of her life for a very long time.

Krista Mooney

She learned and absorbed everything she could and kept hearing she “had a nose.” She had a talent for blending, matching and creating scents which soon became her passion. Krista also loved the buying and merchandising aspects and spent years attending gift shows to further her knowledge. She learned everything she could from Sarah and Janice.

Krista has always had a nose

Throughout college, marriage and even after 2 kids, Krista always came back to “Scent” even if it was just for a couple of hours a week. It was home to her.

Under New Ownership

Unfortunately, Janice passed away several years ago and after 44 years of running the store, Sarah has now retired to South Florida. Instead of shutting down the business, Sarah sold it to her lifelong employee Krista in hopes to keep the store around for another 44 years.

With Krista’s kids now 11 & 12, she felt it was the perfect opportunity for her and her family to jump into this journey. In addition, she was able to keep on the staff which she believes is the heart and soul of any local business. She is so excited and thankful for the village of family, friends and supporters she has in her corner.

Come show this new local business owner some love

Krista’s Favorites

Krista’s favorite items at the store are of course their fragrances and scented products. Some of her favorite scents are the Sweet Musk, Summer Musk, Vintage Musk, and Matcha! Krista also ADORES their gift card options because they offer unique cards that either make the recipient laugh or cry! One of her favorite things about her store, is hearing customers find something they love whether it be for themselves or as a gift. Their joy truly excites her.

The Future of Scentsational

Krista wants to put her own spin on the products they carry and broaden their line of perfume oils. She doesn’t plan on changing much, just adding more amazing things! For example, they recently collaborated with local artist and jeweler, Jen Salta. Jen offers “Get Fuzed” permanent jewelry which was a huge success! Krista is open to collaborate with any local vendors who can offer what her customers will love!

One of her near future goals is to branch out into private parties and events. She wants to start with “After Hours Parties” where friends can come down after the store is closed. This will allow the group a private experience to create their own scents! Perfect idea for a bachelorette party, birthday, or girls night out!

Conclusion

If you are need of a unique gift or want to create a new scent, go show Krista some love. She is a warm, welcoming soul who will bring you into her world of scents. Plus, chances are, you’ll leave with something you love!
