After 33 Years, Seventh Street Cafe to Close

For more than three decades, Seventh Street Café has been a cherished staple in the heart of Garden City—a warm, familiar gathering place where great food, family, and friendship have always taken center stage. Now, as owners Victor and Brooke Scotto prepare to retire, the beloved café is set to close its doors on Christmas Eve. With limited time left, loyal customers and longtime supporters are encouraged to stop by, share a meal, and celebrate the legacy of a restaurant that has brought joy to countless lives.

A Legacy 33 Years in the Making

Seventh Street Café first opened its doors on December 7, 1992. Since then, it has remained a beloved local fixture, upheld by Victor’s unparalleled dedication to the craft of hospitality. With an astonishing 62 years in the restaurant business—and 58 of those as an owner—Victor has long been known as the heartbeat of the establishment.

Even after decades at the helm, he continued to orchestrate daily operations with the same passion and precision that defined his early years. From managing the staff to refining dining experiences, Victor remained the driving force behind the café’s enduring success.

A Changing Industry and the Right Time for Goodbye

Despite their success, Brooke acknowledges that the restaurant industry has changed dramatically in recent years. With mounting pressures and shifting dynamics, the stresses of operating a restaurant have slowly begun to overshadow the joys.

Victor’s family, along with Brooke, encouraged him to embrace retirement—a chance to finally relax after a lifetime of hard work. When the right offer to sell the café emerged, they recognized that it was finally time to take the next step.

While the future plans for the space remain unknown, the Scotto’s feel deep gratitude for the incredible run they’ve had and for the community that embraced them.

A Heartfelt Thank You to the Community

Brooke’s message reflects profound gratitude:

The couple is thankful for the customers who became friends, the staff who became family, and the community that filled their days with love, friendship, and unforgettable memories. Their joy, their success, and their sense of purpose have always been intertwined with the people who walked through their doors.

One Last Chance to Celebrate at Seventh Street Café

As Seventh Street Café approaches its final days, locals are encouraged to stop in, share a favorite meal, and extend their warm wishes to Victor and Brooke. Whether you’re a longtime customer or someone who has always meant to visit, now is the moment to celebrate the incredible legacy of this Garden City institution.

Christmas Eve will mark the end of an era—and they invite the community to join them in honoring the past 33 years of food, family, and heartfelt hospitality.
