Spaghettini in Mineola: A Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home

Spaghettini

From off-menu magic to Martha Stewart-approved desserts, this family-run Italian restaurant is serving up hospitality and homemade goodness in every bite.

For those who follow along with my food adventures, you know I live for discovering hidden gems across Long Island—and I’ve found a real standout in Spaghettini, tucked away in the heart of Mineola. This cozy, family-owned spot checks every box: welcoming vibe, top-notch service, homemade food that rivals nonna’s, and a layout that offers multiple experiences all under one roof.

First Impressions: Charm Around Every Corner

Mineola itself has gotten a glow-up lately, and Spaghettini fits right into its walkable streets, new developments, and growing food scene. Parking was easy (we went on a Tuesday around 7:30 PM), and the inviting signage and friendly staff set the tone immediately.

Step inside and you’ll find a classic pizzeria setup to the left—perfect for a quick slice or takeout. Walk a bit further and you’re transported to a warmly lit restaurant space with booths, Italian artwork, and intimate vibes.

There’s also a lively bar area with TVs for game night, and a covered courtyard out back that hosts events like live music and music bingo Wednesdays. It’s basically four venues in one—you choose the vibe, they handle the rest.

Hospitality That Warms the Heart at Spaghettini

Having worked in hospitality for most of my life, I have high standards when it comes to service. Our server Angela exceeded every expectation—attentive, welcoming, and clearly passionate about her job.

The owners, Wendy and Rob, treat every guest like family. Rob entertained guests at the bar while Wendy checked in with each table to ensure everything was perfect. It’s rare to see this level of ownership presence, and it makes all the difference when dining local.

What to Order: Bread, Burrata & Beyond

We kicked off our meal with a bread basket. I promised myself I wouldn’t touch it, but one warm, buttery roll turned into a full-blown carb celebration. Then came the garlic knots. I told myself I’d try one. That turned into 2.5 knots and a self-slap on the hand.

Next up was the Hot Antipasto for Two—a generous spread of baked clams, calamari fritters, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant rollatini, and shrimp oreganata. Every bite showcased Spaghettini’s strength: balance, texture, and flavor. The shrimp oreganata’s sauce was so good we started dipping the calamari in it (pro tip: do the same).

When it came to entrées, we decided to share. My dad locked in the Veal Parmesan, and I was eyeing the Lobster Roll—at $25.99, I had to see what it was about. Wendy chimed in with a glowing recommendation: their off-menu Drunken Chicken over Pappardelle with Burrata. Say less.

This dish deserves its own fan club. Not only is it a customer favorite (and not on the menu…yet), it’s also one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. A tender, crispy fried chicken cutlet (can also come grilled) sits atop fresh pappardelle in a light vodka sauce, crowned with creamy burrata. Absolute perfection.

The Veal Parmesan was tender and smothered in homemade sauce and mozzarella. The Lobster Roll? Loaded, overstuffed, perfectly seasoned, and a total steal. Every dish was generous in portion and rich in quality.

Pro Tip: Wendy shared that if there’s something you’d like that’s not on the menu—but they have the ingredients in-house—they’ll happily make it for you. Their goal is always to keep customers smiling!

Save Room for Dessert (Seriously)

I was ready to tap out when Wendy casually mentioned that their desserts are made by Martha Stewart’s pastry chef. How do you not order dessert after that?

We chose the chocolate mousse, and let me tell you—it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Smooth, subtle, and perfectly balanced with a cloud of whipped cream. Even if you think you don’t like mousse, this one will change your mind.
