From Mineola to Massapequa Park—Taglio Pizza Continues to Rise
Taglio Pizza, Long Island’s first and only Roman-style pizzeria, has officially opened its second location at 113 Front Street in Massapequa Park. Known for its distinctive pizza al taglio—which translates to “pizza by the slice”—Taglio offers an authentic taste of Italy, baked in traditional blue-steel pans and topped with high-quality, artisanal ingredients.
This expansion is a testament to the pizzeria’s growing reputation and the passion of its founder, Rob Cervoni, who has dedicated his career to perfecting the craft of Roman pizza.

What Makes Taglio Pizza Special?
Unlike traditional New York slices, Taglio’s Roman-style pizza undergoes a meticulous 48- to 72-hour fermentation process, allowing for a light, airy dough with a crisp bottom and a soft, bubbly interior.
This technique, inspired by Rob’s travels to Rome and his grandfather’s hometown of Boville in Frosinone, Italy, enhances digestibility and creates a truly unique eating experience. Each slice is a work of art, topped with premium ingredients and baked slowly to perfection.
The Journey of Rob Cervoni: From Local Pizzerias to National Recognition
Rob Cervoni’s love for pizza started early, working in the same pizzeria where his father once worked. His passion for every aspect of the business—from the science of dough-making to the joy of customer interactions—led him to dream of opening his own pizzeria.
After a stint as a 16 Handles franchisee, Rob realized his true calling and traveled extensively to Rome, training under Massimiliano Saieva, a master of Roman-style pizza.
In 2018, he opened Taglio in Mineola, introducing Long Island to a style of pizza rarely found outside Italy. His dedication has earned him widespread acclaim, including:
• 2022 Pizza Today’s “Rising Stars of Pizza”
• 2023 Food Network’s “Chopped” Champion
• 2024 Rated the #3 Slice Shop in the USA
• Awarded a Golden Ticket, ranking Taglio among the Top 100 Pizzerias in the World
With such impressive accolades, it’s no surprise that Taglio is expanding, bringing its celebrated pizza to even more Long Islanders.
