One of my favorite parts of the holiday season are the local events that bring the community together and encourage people to support local. The Huntington area shines this holiday season with a variety of festive events that invite locals and visitors alike to gather, celebrate, and make cherished memories. From enchanting lights and holiday markets to Santa visits and unique traditions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Holiday Events in Huntington
Northport’s Annual Leg Lamp Lighting
WHEN: November 30th | 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
WHERE: 90 Main Street, Northport (Firefly Artists Gallery)
Northport kicks off its holiday season with the quirky and beloved Leg Lamp Lighting ceremony. Inspired by A Christmas Story, this event features a larger-than-life replica of the iconic leg lamp, complete with fishnet stockings and all. Watch as the lamp illuminates the night, bringing with it holiday cheer, music, and fun activities for the whole family. Before or after the lighting, stop by the local shops and restaurants in Northport for unique holiday gifts and delicious seasonal treats.
Huntington Holiday Spectacular
WHEN: November 30th – January
WHERE: 12 Wall Street, Huntington Village
Huntington Village transforms into a winter wonderland with the Huntington Holiday Spectacular, a community celebration sponsored by Northwell Health. The festivities begin on November 30th with the holiday parade at 5:30 PM, followed by a magical tree lighting at 6:45 PM.
Visitors can look forward to live music, dance performances, and festive holiday markets every Sunday and Friday, hosted by Colored Colors and Digho. On “Small Business Wednesdays,” shoppers are encouraged to explore local stores and support Huntington’s small businesses. With activities for all ages, from Santa visits to family-friendly games, this event brings the joy of the season to everyone. It’s a perfect opportunity to pick up gifts from local artisans and savor holiday treats from nearby eateries.
East Northport Holiday Tree Lighting
WHEN: December 3rd | 6:00 PM
WHERE: East Northport Rail Road Plaza (Clock Tower Park)
East Northport’s annual tree lighting brings the community together for a warm and welcoming holiday tradition. Featuring complimentary hot chocolate and cookies from Copenhagen Bakery, this free event offers a chance to meet Santa and experience the joy of the season. Sponsored by the East Northport Chamber of Commerce and local organizations, the tree lighting promises a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. Be sure to explore nearby shops and cafes as you celebrate this holiday moment with friends and family.
Santa’s Sleigh Lands at Main Space
WHEN: November 30th | 2 PM – 5 PM
WHERE: 453 W. Main Street, Huntington
For families looking for a hands-on holiday experience, Santa’s Sleigh Lands at Main Space offering an afternoon of festive fun before the Huntington Holiday Spectacular parade and tree lighting. Kids can make ornaments, decorate cookies, and enjoy a hot cocoa station while parents snap a holiday photo with Santa Scott, provided by In Focus Ltd.
This event also includes a charitable element: GR Pet Services will be accepting donations for local shelters. Items such as gently used blankets, pet toys, and non-perishable pet food are welcomed to support animals in need. With holiday cheer in abundance, this pre-event is an ideal way to celebrate the season while giving back to the community.
A New Holiday Tradition at Einstein’s Attic
WHEN: November 30th – January 2nd
WHERE: 267 Main Street, Huntington (Einstein’s Attic)
Einstein’s Attic joins the Huntington Holiday Spectacular with extended hours and exciting holiday surprises. As you stroll through Wall Street’s dazzling lights and ice sculptures, stop by Einstein’s Attic to participate in their new holiday tradition. Kids can write letters to Santa and drop them off at the store, with the option to purchase a gift that Santa himself will present to them later.
Mrs. Claus has even delivered cookies and hot cocoa to Einstein’s Attic, free with any purchase. As you explore this beloved toy store, be on the lookout for light-up necklaces and other festive surprises. With extended hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Thursdays starting Thanksgiving weekend, it’s a great spot to find toys and unique gifts while embracing the holiday spirit.
Personal Side Note: The owner of Einstein’s Attic, Lori Badanes, is one of my favorite local business owners. She is all about going above and beyond with her customers and community and is always thinking up new ways to help support other local businesses. She inspires me to always do more and think outside of the box and for that, I think she is awesome.
