In no particular order, here are Going Local’s Top 5 spots to throw a Baby Shower:

View (Oakdale, NY)

I recently attended a Baby Shower at View in Oakdale, which inspired me to write this article, and have to say it was a lovely experience! The “View” alone is enough to make anyone happy, but it didn’t stop there. Instead of having a sit down meal, we were able to head to the delicious buffet spread they offer on Sundays.

We could eat whenever we were hungry and had a nice selection of options to choose from like eggs benedict, French toast, Pasta, Seafood, desserts and so much more. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious.

This option is offered on Sundays with seating’s at 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30 (2 hours seating’s). The cost you ask? $43.95 per person (plus tax) AND includes Bottomless Champagne + Mimosas for 2 Hours!

Captain Bill’s (Bayshore, NY)

If you’re looking for a spot on the south shore of Long Island that has a water view, delicious food and amazing service, Captain Bill’s is your spot! They offer 3 private rooms to choose from including the:

Topside Room is newly renovated and is complete with its own bar, Smart TVs, Bluetooth sound system and restrooms. Topside is perfect for smaller private events and can accommodate 30-50 guests.

Waterview Room has beautiful scenic views overlooking the Bay Shore Marina and has access to the back deck. It’s perfect for smaller, more intimate occasions and can accommodate 40-60 guests.

Harbor View Room has sparkling views of the Bay Shore Marina and the Great South Bay. This room features a full dance floor, fireplace and access to the back deck where your guests can enjoy the magnificent view and can accommodate 60-100 guests

If you’re looking for another option at Captain Bill’s, they also offer a 3hr Semi-Private Event with Shared Buffet for $43pp (plus tax) and includes: carving station, made to order omelette station, chef’s selection of hot chafing dishes, cold salads and platters, eggs benedict, crisp bacon, sausage, waffles, bagels, muffins, pastries and Danishes, fresh fruit platter, chilled peeling shrimp, Smoked salmon, Dessert table with cakes, puddings, croissants, brownies and cookies. Also includes unlimited Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, Champagne, soda, juice, coffee and tea!

Butterfields (Hauppauge, NY)

If you’re looking for a spot in the middle of Long Island that makes it easy for anyone to get to and has delicious food, Butterfields is your spot! They offer a Baby Shower Buffet Package for $48pp (plus tax) that includes complimentary coffee, tea, soda & a champagne punch! The package also includes a $50 credit towards an occasion cake from Alpine Bakery.

As far as food goes, you choose the buffet options. You select 1 salad option, 2 starch/vegetables and 3 options of either pasta, seafood, chicken, beef, pork, or eggplant. They offer upgrades for each option and have add on items like a carving station (+$10pp) or passed Hors d’oeuvres (+$6pp).

Finley’s of Green Street (Huntington, NY)

If you’re looking to host your Baby Shower in an outdoor space then Finley’s of Green Street in Huntington is your spot! Finley’s offers one of, if not, the largest outdoor spaces in Huntington Village and is the perfect spot for your Baby shower.

If you’re looking for a sit down brunch instead of a buffet style, Finley’s offers a Baby Shower sit down brunch for $36.95pp. You can choose 1 salad option (4 choices), 4 entrees (10 choices) and 1 dessert (3 choices). Pitchers of Mimosas or Sangria are $25 and Unlimited Bloody Mary and Mimosas are $30pp.

Shandon Court (East Islip, NY)

This Family-Owned Irish restaurant located in East Islip can offer a ton of options for your Baby Shower including a Tea Party, a sit down brunch, or a buffet! They even offer amenities you can add on to your package like balloon centerpieces, DJ, photo booth, decorated tables and chairs, ice cream sundae bar and more to make planning super easy!

As a local business owner herself, she understands the struggles entrepreneurs face when owning a business and is always trying to find ways to shine a spotlight onto them. Melissa started Going Local Tours & Experiences back in 2020 during the pandemic in hopes to bring people back into local restaurants and shops. She created food tours in Huntington, NY that would stop at 3-4 local businesses and gave the guests the chance to meet the owner and hear the story behind the business. She soon realized how powerful storytelling is when connecting people to local businesses and created options with local store owners as well to bring them onto the tour to share their story. Melissa wanted to expand out of Huntington to be able to support even more local businesses and started creating luxury picnics where she would bring local to you! She would find local businesses in the area of the picnic set up and deliver it to you offering ways to support over 3 local businesses at each picnic. This wasn't enough. She wanted to find a better way to help spread awareness of local businesses and share their stories. Enter Evangeline Knell...a woman with over 30 years of broadcasting experience who somehow convinced Melissa to host a 3 day live stream from the Huntington Fall Festival. She had never been on camera before, but working alongside Evie to create the 3 shows, gave Melissa the confidence to take on the challenge. The 3 shows produced focused on the local vendors, the food trucks and the events that occurred at the festival and had a much larger reach than Melissa could ever of done on her own. They soon realized a business partnership was needed and combined their two businesses, Identity Digital which is a production company and Going Local Tours and Experiences to form Going Local Media. Evie and Melissa even formed their own distribution outlet by creating Going Local TV, a streaming platform like Netflix or YouTube, that is all about local businesses, events and organizations on Long Island. There are over 200 videos including their podcast series "Let's Get Local" "Long Island Business Minds" and "Local Business Spotlight" that help spread awareness of our local businesses and Long Island Professionals. They are always thinking up new ways to support local, including this site, Going Local Today that is a directory of articles on how to Go Local on Long Island.
