Add BRGRS to your “Must Try” List!
When it comes to a good cheeseburger, my saying is, “Don’t threaten me with a good time!” I LOVE Cheeseburgers, so much so, I am always on the hunt for a new spot to try and yesterday, I found BRGRS. It was worth every single calorie I took down in that sitting.
When we walked in, we were greeted by the smell of burgers cooking and a huge smile that belonged to one of the owners, Raja. He welcomed us in and instantly made us feel like friends, which is one of the main reasons I love local business owners so much.
About the Owners
BRGRS is owned by 3 brothers from Melville named Amarjit “Rana”, Jasprit “Bobby”, and Daljit “Raja” Singh. In 2017, Rana was the owner of a bar & grill in Bayside as well as an Indian Tapas spot in Manhattan, but was in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Rana and his family were devastated and both Bobby and Raja stepped in to be his caretakers. In the last 7 years, the brothers thought up their next concept and created BRGRS, to give Rana back what he had lost.
Delicious BRGRS at a Deal of a Price
The menu at BRGRS is classic, simple and best of all, AFFORDABLE! They feature burgers that come in Classic Smashed ($8), Chicken Smashed ($9), or Impossible smashed ($10) and hot dogs like the Classic ($5), BLT ($7), Chicago ($8) or the Impossible Dog ($8).
For sides, you can order French Fries, Curly Fries or Onion Rings ($5) and for only $.50 each, you try some of their 6 choices of sauces! No burger and fries meal would be complete without a Milkshake and for only $6, you can have your choice of vanilla, chocolate or cookies & cream.
My Experience
We both ordered a Double Classic Smashed and added some fries, onion rings and 2 Coca Cola’s in the old school glass bottles. The perfect accompaniment.
As we waited for the food, we looked around at all the pictures on the wall that paid homage to Huntington, Long Island, and Burgers! There are even pictures of the iconic Hamburger Choo Choo that was a known for a train that delivered your food back in the 70’s.
As our food arrived, my mouth began to water and it took every ounce of my being to not rip into that smashburger immediately. Instead, I paused, ate a few fries, and remembered to take pics for this article so you didn’t have to see a devoured tray with nothing on it. Which is exactly what ended up happening.
That smashburger was so damn good, it is now on my full rotation of favorite burger spots on Long Island. In addition, the fries are everything I look for in a good French Fry: shoestring, cooked perfectly and served nice and hot. Raja was nice enough to bring us over all the sauces to try and my favorites were the hot buffalo, the chipotle mayo and burger sauce.
We finished off with a Cookies & Cream Milkshake and when Raja asked if we needed anything, I said “Yes please. Can you roll me out of here?” The Milkshake hit the spot and was worth every extra step I have to take this week to walk off.
