The Most Hidden of Gems located in Farmingdale

Where Is This Place?

Sapori del Vallo is a fine Italian food wholesaler at 111 Milbar BLVD Farmingdale.   Is there a sign outside, or even a name.???..no!!!. Milbar is an industrial road, it is 0.6 miles East of route 110 (Melville road, the road just south of Farmingdale college turns into Milbar when you cross 110).  Look for the Italian flag by the road, the door just says 111.  You will reach for the door, and ask “Did Gary fool me?” but trust me, you are in the right place.

What I Know About Sapori del Vallo

If you are eating fresh pasta in your favorite Italian restaurant,  chances are it was made here as they distribute to so many of them.  Sapori del Vallo is loaded with super nice, helpful people, including Carmine, the owner.  He describes Sapori as “everything Italian.”

It is a touch of Italy in Farmingdale.   The staff is bilingual,  half the customers speak in Italian.    It is wholesale,  everything is priced at great wholesale prices!  The bread looked to die for!!  They make their mozzarella,  sauce everything… and they are old school, the food is soooo amazing.

Inside the warehouse, with no indication it is there, is a Pizzeria with a wood burning pizza oven (Dom’s). The pizza is made by a family that has flown in from Italy. It’s made fresh to order, but just takes a few minutes leaving time to shop, get some fresh mozzarella, oil, or any kind of pasta you can manage.

My Experience at Sapori del Vallo

I am usually found at Dom’s every Saturday,  it is that good.  There is usually live Italian music, and a few times I have witnessed dancing customers.   It is a happy place, and when I mentioned that to Dom, Carmine’s dad, he indicated, “that is how it is supposed to be.”

Went with my daughter and fiance for lunch.  If you go, Peter’s meatballs to start ($4) and that omg bread (never had better) are musts.  We shared the orecchiette pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe as well as an old school Bufalina pie.  As they make and sell such fresh ingredients,  and have professional pizza makers from Italy, the pizza is amazing.  No frills, but so very friendly.

You can even buy the pasta in the store, and they will make it for you.  Pizzeria prices are also inexpensive.   They make a few different dishes each day as well (Lasagna, chicken Francaise, etc).
