From Huntington to Syosset, this family-owned favorite opens its second location with more space, more music, and the same incredible food

Tommy Tacos y Tequila, the beloved Huntington eatery known for its unapologetic style, slow-braised meats, and unforgettable birria tacos, has officially opened its second location in Syosset. Owned and operated by Tommy and Elisa, a husband-and-wife duo with nearly three decades of experience in the restaurant world, the expansion is a major milestone for this local favorite that first opened its doors in July of 2020.

What to Expect at Tommy Tacos

Tommy’s passion for food and hospitality was shaped over years spent working in some of New York’s finest restaurants. When he finally ventured out on his own, he brought a chef’s precision and a host’s warmth to the world of fast casual dining. At Tommy Tacos, everything is made with intention—from the hand-trimmed steaks to the house-made salsas and guacamole, all crafted fresh daily using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

The result? A menu that’s as comforting as it is exciting. Slow-braised meats, scratch-made corn fritters, house-blended marinades, and 100% nixtamalized corn tortillas elevate each dish into something worth savoring. And don’t miss the rotating selection of house-made desserts, including churro funnel cakes and pop-up sweets like whoopie pies and brownies.

Why Syosset? Why Now?

Though a second location was always in the back of their minds, the opportunity came unexpectedly. “It was actually our architect from the first restaurant,” says Tommy, “He loved the concept so much, he wanted to invest in another.” Around the same time, a friend mentioned an available space near the Syosset train station, and the stars aligned.

“The location felt perfect,” adds Elisa. “We’re near commuters who might want to grab dinner or a drink on the way home, and we’re in a town that has such a strong sense of community. We feel really lucky to be here.”

What’s New in Syosset?

While the heart and soul of the original location remain, the new Syosset outpost comes with a few upgrades:

A larger dining area with plenty of space for families and friends to gather

An expanded bar area featuring creative cocktails and a selection of tequilas

Live music nights to keep the energy flowing

Despite the growth, the restaurant stays true to its roots: a casual, counter-service eatery where the food is brought to your table, the music is loud (in the best way), and the energy is always welcoming.

Art Meets Flavor: A Collaboration with Cake Don

One standout feature of the Syosset location is a brand-new mural by renowned Long Island artist and cake master, Don Donneruno, better known as The Cake Don. The mural perfectly captures the bold, rebellious spirit of Tommy Tacos and serves as an Instagram-worthy backdrop for every visit. Even better? The partnership goes beyond the artwork.

Tommy Tacos is now offering Cake Don’s Churro Cheesecake in a Jar at both the Huntington and Syosset locations—a decadent new dessert that’s already a hit with regulars.

Come for the Food, Stay for the Vibes at Tommy Tacos

At Tommy Tacos, it’s about more than great food—it’s about the experience. “We want you to feel like you’re in your best friend’s basement,” says Tommy, “laughing, listening to music, and eating food you love.”

The space is already becoming a neighborhood hub, where parents, neighbors, and friends run into each other after Little League games or stop in for a happy hour drink. It’s authentic, it’s flavorful, and it’s got heart.
