About MaBella

Frank and Maria each bring over 30 years of experience to their venture, having started their culinary journeys in their pre-teen years. Maria hails from Acri, Calabria, the same charming town in Italy where Frank’s parents are from. Their shared heritage and passion for Italian cuisine laid the foundation for a partnership that blossomed into a successful career and, eventually, a family business.

The couple’s love story began in the early 90s at Maria’s cousins’ renowned restaurant in Huntington Station. It was there that Frank and Maria met, fell in love, and began dreaming of creating their own culinary haven. After 15 prosperous years of working with partners, they decided it was time to strike out on their own, leading to the birth of MaBella.

Named after Maria and their eldest daughter, Isabella, MaBella is truly a family affair. Frank commands the kitchen, crafting dishes that echo the flavors and traditions of his Italian roots, while Maria oversees the front of the house, ensuring every guest feels like part of the family. Their sons, Joe Joe and Frankie, also contribute to the restaurant, with their signature dishes earning a place on the menu.

On The Menu

At Mabella, guests are welcomed with open arms and treated to a menu that showcases the rich culinary heritage of Calabria. Each dish is a testament to Frank’s skill and dedication, from homemade pasta to mouthwatering entrees that leave diners craving more. Maria’s warm hospitality and keen attention to detail create an inviting atmosphere where every visitor feels at home.

On the menu, you’ll find starter options like their Little Neck Clams, Mussels, Fried Calamari and Eggplant Rollatini. Their Thin Crusted Pizzette’s are delicious and come in three ways: Napoli, Margherita and Arugula (cold).

If pasta is what you seek, the Lasagna, Baked Ziti and Fusilli Rabe are all great choices, but my favorite pasta dish happens to be on the “Bambino’s” menu. MaBella has the BEST Mac & Cheese I have ever had in my entire life. I’ve ordered it so many times, they now offer an adult version.

Their entrée options are not to be passed over with signature dishes like Bella’s Scarparella and Frankie’s Veal Scaloppini. If you love Parmigiana, they offer Chicken, Veal, Shrimp and Eggplant Parm Dinners served with Spaghetti. They also offer specials that change daily so make sure to ask your server for recommendations when visiting.

Conclusion

Whether you’re a long-time patron or a first-time visitor, MaBella promises an unforgettable dining experience. Frank and Maria’s commitment to quality and family values shines through in every aspect of the restaurant, making it a beloved spot for authentic Italian cuisine in Commack.
