Long Island’s beloved red barn returns with a modern twist on coffee, treats, and convenience
Long Islanders who remember the charm of Dairy Barns—those iconic red structures offering milk, eggs, and snacks via drive-thru—can now relive the experience with a flavorful upgrade. The Barn, a refreshed and reimagined version of the classic Dairy Barn, has officially opened its newest location in June in the heart of Huntington, delivering a dose of nostalgia with every sip.
The Story Behind the Revival
The Barn is the brainchild of Irena Angeliades and her husband, Michael Wieczorek, who are also the owners of Symi, a popular Greek restaurant in Northport. Fifteen years ago, Angeliades and her family purchased all 49 original Dairy Barn locations across Long Island. While many of the properties were sold off, the couple held onto a select few with the hope of someday breathing new life into the brand.
The turning point came unexpectedly. As the Merrick location began experimenting with playful coffee creations, a viral TikTok moment catapulted The Barn into the spotlight. The surprising popularity of its specialty drinks ignited a bold plan to reopen remaining stores—starting with Huntington.
A Drive-Thru Like No Other at The Barn
Located at 50 Wall Street, The Barn in Huntington blends classic convenience with trendy coffee culture. Partnering with For Five Coffee, the shop serves an inventive array of specialty lattes and beverages that look as good as they taste.
Customer favorites include the Summer ’Smores latte, topped with toasted marshmallows and crushed graham crackers, and the Powdered Donut latte, finished with a real doughnut on the lid. There’s even a Rainbow Cookie latte for those with a soft spot for traditional Long Island treats, and a Dubai Chocolate Matcha Latte for the adventurous sipper.

For those seeking simpler pleasures, traditional coffees, vanilla and chai lattes, iced teas, and matcha lemonades are also on offer. Don’t forget to grab a swirl of soft serve or a classic Entenmann’s treat on your way out.
More Barns on the Horizon
Huntington is just the beginning. With the location thriving, Angeliades is already setting her sights on expansion. New Barns are slated to open in East Northport, Patchogue, and Kings Park in the coming months, with a goal of one new location per month.
Though some former Dairy Barn buildings were sold to other companies, including Ready Coffee, The Barn remains a distinct brand with its own vision and style—anchored in local roots and designed for today’s on-the-go lifestyle.
