It’s All About the Beer: Great South Bay Brewery

Great South Bay

In the lively heart of Long Island, nestled in the industrial neighborhood of Bay Shore, New York, lies a brewing haven known as the Great South Bay Brewery (GSB). Located on Drexel Drive in a distinctive 40,000 sqft. building, Great South Bay has become a local landmark, affectionately dubbed by locals as “GSB.”

This brewery takes pride in its diverse offerings, boasting an impressive repertoire of over 20 taps that cater to every palate. From perennial favorites like the Blonde Ambition Blonde Ale, Blood Orange Pale Ale, Jetty Cream Ale, to the Massive IPA, GSB has established itself as a go-to destination for craft beer enthusiasts. Not to be overlooked are their delightful “Spiked” Seltzers, which have found a permanent spot in their lineup.

The Tipsy Tea line, shrouded in mystery, has become legendary among patrons. With a commitment to quality brewing, GSB manages to craft a spectrum of beers that defy expectations. The brewery’s rotating taps feature limited releases, ensuring a fresh and dynamic experience with each visit.

GSB’s evolution from humble beginnings in a home garage, where a Watermelon Ale recipe was born, to the installation of a sophisticated 4-vessel, 30-barrel system in 2011, is a testament to their dedication to the craft. The transition from Ma’s sauce pots to cutting-edge brewing technology marked a pivotal moment in their journey, allowing GSB to elevate its brewing capabilities.

But GSB offers more than just a beer experience; it’s a venue for celebration. With three party rooms and a variety of beer packages, the brewery provides an ideal space for hosting events and gatherings. From intimate affairs to larger celebrations, GSB has it covered.

In the fall of ’22, GSB expanded its offerings with the introduction of three Full Swing Golf Simulators in the secondary tasting room, providing patrons with an immersive gaming experience. Adding to the excitement is the in-house Pizza Kitchen, allowing visitors to savor delectable bites alongside their favorite brews.

Open seven days a week, from Monday through Sunday, GSB invites beer enthusiasts and curious patrons alike to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the brewery. So, whether you’re a local or just passing through, GSB beckons, promising a unique blend of craft beer, entertainment, and community. Come on down – they’re waiting to share their passion for beer with you!
